Straight Lake, the clear, spring fed headwaters of the state’s most productive trout stream, is set in the gateway of the magnificent Smoky Hills State Forest. Fishing packages are available. Day trips for beautiful Rainbow trout or small mouth bass fishing are here for the asking. Straight River offers some of the most exciting trout fishing in the state. So be sure to check out the trout fishing experience. A guided trip for duck or grouse hunting is also available. Bring your spouse; there are many unique shops in the area.
Average size of walleye was large, 2.2 lbs. and 17.8 inches, with fish that measured up to 27.0 inches. Thirty-six percent of the sampled walleye were 20.0 inches or longer. DNR 1995 Straight Lake Survey.
